Insider TA Professional reads
from the legacy TC2000 ver 4.x/5.x data files automatically. The
following discussion is for those who still use Insider TA Version
4 Professional (upgrade here).
- In TC2000 ver 4.x/5.x,
click Databank | Smart Export to TC2000 ver 3.
- After the Database
Export to TC2000 Ver 3 window appears, select the watchlist
to export ("Dow Jones 30 Industrial Component Stocks" is shown
here).
- Enter the path where
you want the files exported to. The default destination
(C:\TCV3Data) is suitable.
- Using the slide tab,
select the number of days to export (750 is suitable for InsiderTA).
- Put a check mark in
the box labeled "Automatically run following databank updates" box.
- Click the Smart
Export button.

If you get a RUNTIME 91 or RUNTIME
440 error when exporting, Worden recommends you try changing the contents
of the Data Files Path to a new directory. The export utility
will create the new directory for you. Then click the Smart Export button
again.
The above steps will produce TC2000 data
in the ver 3 format (that is, data will be stored in single-lettered
subdirectories beneath the selected Data Files Path). Assuming
you used the above example and chose the Data Files Path to
be c:\TCV3Data\.
Then...
- all symbols beginning with the letter "A" would
reside in c:\TCV3Data\A\
- all symbols beginning with the letter "B" would
reside in c:\TCV3Data\B\
- all symbols beginning with the letter "C" would
reside in c:\TCV3Data\C\
- and so forth, all the way to the
letter "Z"...
You can store
each of these path specifications into Insider TA's File
Entry Panel's Path Menu, specifically...
- c:\TCV3Data\A\*.NDX
- c:\TCV3Data\B\*.NDX
- c:\TCV3Data\C\*.NDX
- and so forth, all the way to c:\TCV3Data\Z\*.NDX
